MELBOURNE, December 20 2019….. It doesn’t happen every year, but in 2020, Australia Day and Chinese New Year will be celebrated on the same weekend.
On Friday 24 January (Chinese New Year’s Eve) and Saturday 25 January (Chinese New Year), Melba Restaurant will host two dinner sittings, one at 5pm and a later sitting at 8pm. For $105.00 per adult (half price for children 12 and under), guests will enjoy ringing in the Year of the Rat with an authentic Chinese menu that includes ginger and spring onion wok-fried lobster with noodles, braised fungus, spicy wontons, har gow and five-spice crispy pork belly.
The hotel’s lobby will be adorned with gold and red blooms and diners will be presented with a lucky envelope that includes a gift from The Langham, Melbourne.
Meanwhile, on Australia Day, Melba Restaurant will showcase some of the country’s most loved Australian ingredients and dishes including Moreton Bay bugs, Mooloolaba king prawns, Coffin Bay oysters, roasted crocodile, lamb chops, yellowfin tuna from Bermagui, sake-infused abalone from Indented Head in Victoria and of course, a meat pie! For $115.00 for lunch, or $128.00 per adult for dinner (half price for children 12 and under) there will also be vanilla slices, lamingtons, Violet Crumble chocolate cupcakes and a wattleseed pavlova with macadamia nuts and mango coulis that is not to be missed.
